Westerveld cemetery is a national monument; it is of great historical and cultural importance to the Netherlands. The cemetery is one of the oldest private cemeteries in Holland; it receives no subsidies from the government. It is situated in a beautiful undulating landscape shaped by the dunes.
In the same area the first crematory of Holland was built (1913); the original building is a national monument as well.
Westerveld cemetery is located in Driehuis. This village is part of the community Velsen.
