Extention to cemetery of S.Stefano a Mare
The intervention/participation has for theme the amplification of the small municipals cemetery of Santo Stefano al Mare, Italy.
The austerity budget ( 250 € / mq) has allowed us to operate imagining to have a big mass coincident with the area at disposal and to dig it so as to obtain a sequence of prismatic blocks that, distributed on the ground, have given form to the intervention.Â
Such blocks are at the same time enclosing wall and burials, their disposition has produced in the west east sense gaping spaces for the ways and in the north south sense the openings that allow a visual contact constantly with the sea and the wall of the existing cemetery.
The main way is used after interment, it is paved with washed cement conglomerate.
The rear way is used is used after services, it is paved with untied gravel.
The extension covers 850 m2 at the cost of € 250 / m2.
The contained costs will make the burial lots available at an equitable price.
The project have recived an honourable mention at AR Awards for emerging architetture of London (http://www.arplusd.com/).
