Commemorate the Easter Rising at Glasnevin Cemetery with a Revolutionary Tour.
Ninety-eight years ago on the streets of Dublin seven men marched a small army of Irish men and women to the steps of the GPO. Together they launched a revolution in pursuit of Ireland’s˙freedom.
The battle of Easter 1916 raged for six days and six nights, and resulted in the destruction of many parts of the city. Many of those who participated in Ireland’s fight for independence were laid to rest within the walls of Glasnevin Cemetery.
The Revolutionary 1916 Tours will take place at Glasnevin Cemetery every day from 18. to 21. April 2014 at 2.30pm. The purpose is to release the stories and pay homage at the gravesides of the heroes and heroines that changed Ireland’s history.
During the tours we will visit the graves of Daniel O’Connell, Charles Stewart Parnell, Éamon DeValera, Michael Collins, Harry Boland, Countess Markievicz and many more. The Revolutionary Tours also include a re-enactment of the surrender given by Nurse Elizabeth O'Farrell.
