The Association

The Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe (ASCE) is the European network comprising those public and private organisations which care for cemeteries considered to be of historical or artistic importance. ASCE is a not-for-profit organisation with a clear and global character.

Objectives

To promote European cemeteries as a fundamental part of the heritage of humanity. To raise European citizen awareness of the importance of significant cemeteries. In order to fulfil its purposes the Association shall:
  • Share experiences and best practices
  • Co-operating to protect, restores and ensure ongoing care and maintenance to cemeteries.
Organisation

The governing bodies of ASCE are:
  • The General Assembly
  • The President
  • The Steering Committee
General Assembly: is the supreme body of the Association, with its members forming part of it through proper and non-renounceable rights. The President: shall be elected by the General Assembly and represents in all respects the institutional, social, cultural and academic activities of ASCE. The Steering Committee: is the executive body that gives support the President.

Proposing Significant Cemeteries

ASCE IT system

ASCE is an international association with members all across Europe. Therefore different IT knowledge, administrative rules and cultures shape the work. Presidency of the association is also moving with each elections and steering committee is made up of people from different countries.
