Pogrebno podjetje Maribor, a presidential member of ASCE, hosts and organizes this year’s conference. It certainly is a great honor and responsibility of this company to have an opportunity of hosting a conference, which will be attended by specialists of architecture, history, cemetery management and other professionals, coming from 16 European countries.
International conference entitled “Promotion of cemeteries and their surrounding territories” will last from 13th to 15th September 2012. The participants are yet to be thrilled with interesting topics and impeccable organization of the event.
Conference, intended for public of specialty, officially opens on 13.9.2012 at 9.30 in conference hall of Hotel City. For outer guests (not members of ASCE), conference opens at 14.30.
As a part of conference, experts will also visit cemetery Pobrežje, Maribor’s oldest working culturally-historical cemetery. We would also like to point out that guided tour in English language will be performed by children from primary schools, who got to know the cemetery when studying English at school. It is a pilot project of passing on of topics and innovative accession to tourism and education by presenting important personalities, architecture, historically interesting tombs and specific historical facts expressed on cemeteries.
