Dark Events: A New direction in events research?

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Surrey (UK) and the Faculty of Tourism Studies - Turistica, University of Primorska (Slovenia), are jointly hosting a series of three online seminars on the theme of "Events: Conflict and Contestation".

The first of these online seminars will take place on 28 April 2023, from 11.00 to 13.30 UK Time (GMT +1), on the topic of "dark events" – events linked to death, tragedy and suffering.

This is a relatively new area of research that we hope will appeal to everyone with an interest in events and also to those interested in dark tourism and dark leisure. The seminar will feature four research presentations and will conclude with a discussion of the concept of dark events and its value for the future of events research.

This seminar is free to attend and registration can be completed using this short online form: https://bit.ly/darkevents

More details about the contributors and their research topics are in the attached poster.
