This year's AGM and Conference will take place from 4 to 6 September 2025 in Dresden, Germany.

The event will take place in the Kulturrathaus – a cultural center located at Königstraße 15, 01097 Dresden, Germany.

Conference theme

This year ASCE’s annual conference will focus on the theme "Future through Remembrance". Against the background of the end of World War II we want to focus on communication and interaction. You can find all the details HERE.

Accommodation suggestions

Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation for the AGM. To make this process as easy as possible, we have prepared a list of recommended hotels near the event venue. The list is available at the link below, where you can also make your reservation.

Nonetheless, staying at one of these hotels is not required. You are free to use booking platforms to find other accommodation options that better suit your needs.

AGM 2023: Save the date

This year's AGM and Conference will take place from 21 to 23 September 2023 in Mantua, Italy.

Each year, the Annual General Meeting attracts over 100 cemetery academics, artists, and professionals from all over Europe. We generate a lot of public attention and through the conference help expose important topics from modern cemetery's management. With this being said, we are glad to announce that the Steering Committee of ASCE decided on the date and location of the Annual General Meeting and Conference 2023.

This year's AGM and Conference will take place from 21 to 23 September 2023 in Mantua, Italy.

A call for papers, as well as all the details about the event program, accommodation, and other logistics, will be released in the following weeks.

AGM 2022: Save the date

This year's AGM and Conference will take place from 15 to 17 September 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia.

Each year, the Annual General Meeting attracts over 100 cemetery academics, artists, and professionals from all over Europe. We generate a lot of public attention and through the conference help expose important topics from modern cemetery's management. This being said, we are glad to announce that the Steering Committee of ASCE decided on the date and location of the Annual General Meeting and Conference 2022.

Planning the AGM 2022

After the splendidly executed AGM 2021, that took place in Budapest (Hungary), we are now planning the AGM 2022.

In the beginning of March 2022, ASCE president Lidija Pliberšek went to Belgrade (Serbia) and attended a meeting with the director of the local funeral company "JKP Pogrebne usluge" Vladan Đukić, and the mayor of the city of Belgrade Zoran Radojičić, to discuss the possibility of Belgrade being the host of this year's AGM. As part of the meeting, they visited the New Cemetery of Belgrade and the venue where the conference could be held. Furthermore, they debated the possible dates and other logistics that would ensure the organization of another memorable and successful event.

AGM 2021 in Budapest

Let's meet again! On Friday, September 17th, 2021, the Annual General Meeting without conference will be held in Budapest, Hungary. All ASCE members invited to attend.

The LIVE ASCE meeting will be held on Friday, September 17th, 2021, and will be followed by a rich cultural program during the weekend. As usual, we will take a walk in the cemetery of the hosting city and discover some of the other amazing cultural attractions of Budapest.

The ASCE Conference will take place separately in November 2021 via Zoom.

The AGM is for ASCE members only and an online sign up for the event is required. Please, apply via this REGISTRATION FORM, no later than July 15th, 2021. 

Accommodation and all other logistics will be arranged to smoothly accomodate participants, you do not need to make any accommodation reservations.

The host member will take care of all the security measures that may be necessary at that time so that we can safely enjoy each other’s company and have a carefree and productive weekend.

September 17th, Friday

• 10 am - ASCE General Meeting
• 12 noon - International press conference
• 1 pm - Lunch
• Afternoon: Sightseeing in Budapest, walks in Fiumei Street National Graveyard and Salgótarjáni Street Jewish Cemetery
• Evening: Opening ceremony of “Cultural Heritage Days”

September 18th, Saturday

• Optional sightseeing in Budapest and/or visit to the National Park of Mourning (central memorial place for victims of the communist dictatorship)

Program is subject to change and will be adapted to the situation.

AGM 2021 announcement

This year's AGM and Conference is expected to take place in November 2021.

We are glad to announce that the Steering Committee of ASCE decided that the Annual General Meeting and Conference 2021 will take place in November 2021 in an online format.

If the constantly changing situation will allow it, there is an open possibility to hold a limited live meeting and conference in addition to the virtual one as well. Since the execution will be conditioned by the circumstances and security measures at that time, the exact date, location and all the other information will be released later on.

Scientific representatives are working on the theme for the conference and will release a call for papers in the following weeks.
